Dominic Thiem has been confirmed by Sky Sports Austria as one of the players set to represent the austrian Davis Cup team in Euro-Africa Group I tie against Portugal. The teams will meet at Pavilhão do Vitória Sport Club, in Guimarães, between March 4th and 6th.
Ranked 19th in the world, Thiem will lead the team captained by Stefan Koubek. Gerald Melzer, Dennis Novak and Alexander Peya are also expected to travel to Portugal and face the home team, for which Nuno Marques called João Sousa, Gastão Elias, Frederico Silva and Rui Machado.
Portugal and Austria will meet for the fourth time in Davis Cup history, with the central-european country leading the head-to-head by 3-0 with wins in 1986 (Mayrhofen), 1987 (Oporto) and 1999 (Wels Hall).
