Youngest player ranked inside the world’s top100, Borna Coric was confirmed by the Millennium Estoril Open as one of the tournament’s biggest stars for this year. The event start on April 25, with the qualifying draw, and will be played until May 3, the date of the singles final.
Having won two of his matches against players of the Big Four, Coric, only 18 years old, is often considered one of the men’s tour Rising Stars and will be in Portugal for the first time attempting to get another professional win as he joins the aussie Nick Kyrgios and portuguese João Sousa in the main draw entry list.
In 2014, Coric — one of Croatia’s biggest sensations along with Marin Cilic, the US Open champion in 2014, and Ana Konjuh –, reached the SFs of the ATP 500 played in Basel, Switzerland, by defeating his idol, Rafael Nadal. He also played the QFs of the Umag event in front of his home crowd.
This year, Borna Coric has already played the SFs of the Dubai ATP 500, as a result of his incredible 6-1 6-3 win against british Andy Murray — who was runner up in Melbourne Park in the start of the season.
